Emergency Food Support
Roberti Community House is committed to providing emergency meals to food insecure members of Lake County.
With 4 different Lake County emergency food distribution sites, Roberti Community House needs volunteers to deliver much-needed food resources for families!
For those looking to stay safe and yet still lend a hand, emergency food pickup is a great way to make an impact! Deliver groceries to assembly sites, pickup resources from area food bank and other donation sites, deliver family meal kits to distribution sites.
EMERGENCY FOOD SORTING & DISTRIBUTION, Monday-Thursday plus special pop-ups
Current distribution sites: St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waukegan, Highwood Library, Roberti Community House, Lakeside Towers apartment in Waukegan. Pop-up sites being planned for various churches, senior centers, marginalized areas in Lake County.
Garden with Neighbors
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:00-12:00 – volunteers and neighbors help nourish our garden and community. Drop-in activities for our community kids who need nourishing too!
Summer Youth Programs
Fridays, beginning June 11, 10:00-12:00 – our community children have been cooped up for a year, help us offer fun, engaging activities and the opportunity to connect again!
Make connections and build relationships with and offer positive role modeling for community kids. Help with homework and reading assignments, make crafts and art projects, play games, lead group in making snacks and recipes.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00-5:45
Come support and encourage our community, both adults and kids, to learn basic sewing skills and share their own talents. Learning on one of our donated sewing machines or sharing knitting skills, our community receives more than the fashions and household goods they create. Meaningful connections and opportunities to give back enrich the lives of those in need. Join us!

We are always looking for new leaders for yoga and other wellness classes. Come share your talents!
Food, Fun & Friendship
Join in and connect with our community friends, Share recipes and nutrition advice.
Slow Cooker Class
Offered in 4-week sessions throughout the year, this class offers healthy cooking and exercise tips. Come lead a class and help exchange ideas on healthy living. Also need kitchen assistants needed to help in food preparation and serving class participants.
Summer Volunteer Opportunities
Junior Green Youth Farm
Come join our community kids in this hands-on gardening experience. Cooking, art, and yoga classes as well as various educational field trips are incorporated to highlight healthy lifestyle choices. Team building and group activities are successfully integrated with individual goals so that youth gain self-confidence and inter-personal skills.

While families visit the Holy Family Food Pantry, we provide a fun distraction for the kids out in the community garden. We help engage them in planting and caring for the garden, provide crafts, and offer samples of foods from the gardens.
Junior & Master Chefs
Help students prepare a different food item (or recipe) each week then enjoy the meal together. Volunteers needed for food prep, student assistance, and clean up.

Summer Reading & Math Camp
Provide our neighborhood youth with a safe place all summer long!
Help lead community kids of all ages in activities and crafts related to various reading themes and math levels.

Windy City Farm Lunches
Work alongside community members to help prepare lunches for twenty-five to thirty students and staff at the nearby Green Belt Program. Lunches highlight a different fresh vegetable each week.
