Is there a cost for the program?
No, the program is free.
Do I need experience in the foodservice industry to qualify for the program?
No experience in foodservice is required.
When are classes offered?
Classes are offered throughout the year. The next start date is Monday, March 12. See Calendar.
What is the time commitment for the program?
Students are required to attend the program everyday Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm for 9 consecutive weeks.
How many students are in each class?
Each class has approximately 5-6 students.
What is required to be a student?
Each student is expected to wear non-skid closed toe shoes (e.g. clean tennis shoes).
Each participant must be able to lift 15 pounds and able to stand on your feet for extended period of time.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Provide a social security card.
What is the program curriculum?
Dedicated instruction in basic knife skills, making stocks, soup and sauces from scratch, food safety and sanitation, baking, braising, sautéing, steaming, boiling, roasting and frying; kitchen English and life skills, resume writing, and interview practice. At the completion of the program students will earn the ANSI accredited Food Handler Certification.
Will I be guaranteed a job if I complete the RCP program?
Completion of the program does not guarantee employment. Resources are offered to students to help with potential employer contact and job placement, but the ultimate responsibility for obtaining employment is with each student.
