The Roberti Community House holds numerous special events for the community throughout the year. Cinco de Mayo day marks the beginning of our planting season. After neighbors join us in cleaning and preparing the gardening beds, the occasion is celebrated with a delicious meal.
The conclusion of each year’s Junior Green Youth Farm is marked by an Open House. Family and friends are invited to meet our young farmers, view the gardens, and kids in the program have an opportunity to describe their summer gardening experiences.
Our annual fall Harvest Festival celebrates the end of a successful and bountiful harvest with lots of good food, music, dancing, and a movie on the lawn.
Halloween is a favorite with kids in the after-school program. Joined by family members, everyone dresses in costume and enjoys a variety of games and spooky treats!
Winter holiday celebrations include Thanksgiving and Christmas. Enjoying Thanksgiving dinner together, making holiday decorations, trimming our trees, and preparing seasonal foods mark this joyous time of year.
Other noteworthy events include educational field trips to places like Baha’i Temple and the Chicago Botanic Garden, special guest speakers that address a variety of relevant issues, and movie nights for children and families. Spa Day has become an annual event featuring haircuts, facials, manicures and massages for women in the neighborhood. The RCH and its neighbors support and participate in events sponsored by local community groups such as the Mexican American Day Parade and Kids Nature Funfest at the Greenbelt Cultural Center. RCH neighbors find it important to give to others and they have made beautiful quilts for Project Linus and crocheted lovely hats for cancer patients.
Details of all special events can be found on our website and Facebook.
