Junior Green Youth Farm
The JGYF offers a daily hands-on gardening experience, cooking, art, and yoga classes as well as various educational field trips. Team building and group activities are successfully integrated with individual goals so that youth gain self-confidence and inter-personal skills.
Join Roberti Community House and University of Illinois Extension Horticulture Program in preparing, planting, nurturing & harvesting our community garden. While families visit the Holy Family Food Pantry they are welcome to contribute to their community garden. We also provide a fun distraction for the kids out in the community garden. We help engage them in planting and caring for the garden, provide crafts, and offer samples of foods from the gardens.
Yoga & Wellness
Adults can gain strength and flexibility by participating in group yoga classes. The mindfulness practices and breathing techniques will help everyone feel more relaxed and focused.
Students will prepare a different food item (or recipe) each week that they will have for lunch that day. Topics and activities will reinforce healthy food choices, food preparation techniques, cooking, baking, safe knife handling, table manners, kitchen clean up, etc.
Registration required. Stop by to sign up, or call (224)209-3717 to register by phone.
Summer Reading & Math Club
Do you like to read comic books? Do you prefer poetry? Kids of all ages are welcome to join us to explore various reading themes, as well as author visits and library information. We will also sharpen our math skills with weekly activities and games.
