Success by Six – Early Learning Clubs
Become your child’s first teacher! Roberti Community House is partnering with United Way of Lake County to offer free lessons in both English and Spanish designed to help 3-5 year-old children and their parents get ready for the transition to kindergarten. You and your child will receive the training and materials, including your very own books, to continue learning together at home. Together we can help prepare your child to enter kindergarten ready to succeed!
Every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the school year, the RCH offers after-school programming that features tutoring, arts and crafts, yoga, and a healthy snack. Special emphasis is placed on ensuring that everyone is encouraged to receive homework assistance. Volunteers frequently go the extra mile by meeting with a child’s teacher in order to develop an individualized educational plan. Tuesday’s program is geared specifically for those students that want, and can benefit from, accelerated reading and math assistance.
Tap into the boundless energy of toddlers to get your child involved in this interactive story time. This story time program will engage your child with short stories, action rhymes, songs and fun.
Children ages 3-6 are welcome with caregiver.
Our Lending Library continually welcomes the donation of new books for children of all ages. Reading levels rather than grades are the determining factor in arranging books. We want all children to become successful and embrace the joy of reading. We also have a “Little Lending Library” that is located in our front yard. This enables children to borrow and return books even when the community house is closed.
Summer Reading & Math Camp
Every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon during the summer, the RCH offers a safe, fun place for kids to enjoy activities with an emphasis on reading and math. Reading themes include poetry, comics, navigating the library and special presentations. These children also assist our volunteer librarian with the coordination of the agency’s Lending Library.
The RCH coordinates activities for neighborhood children every Tuesday morning at the nearby Holy Family Food Pantry. Facilitated by a team of energetic volunteers, children have an opportunity to help with the community garden and to participate in a variety of supervised games and recreational activities.
