Located in a distressed, predominately Hispanic area of Waukegan, the Roberti Community House is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
The RCH was in total disrepair when purchased in November 2010. The House was completely rehabbed through funds from the Roberti Foundation and with assistance from various community vendors. In particular, kudos go to the Joel Kennedy Constructing Corporation. They were instrumental in shepherding the entire construction process from inception to its completion in October 2011.
This three-story home was intentionally configured so that the space would be flexible and could easily be used for multiple purposes. The House includes two large kitchens conducive for cooking classes and hosting events as well as accommodating such activities as sewing classes and discussion groups. There are also a number of quiet spaces used for meditation, yoga and art classes, and various sized meeting rooms. A large yard features twelve raised beds for planting vegetables, fruit trees, flower gardens and comfortable areas where small groups can gather.
